The search and rescue operations regarding the ship disaster in Kyrenia have entered their fifth day. Whilst the body of one of the 20 people missing on the ship was recovered yesterday, search operations for the missing 19 people continue. Vice President Yılmaz will travel to the island today to visit the relatives of the missing.
Nine people, including the captain and the director of the company to which the detained ship is affiliated, have appeared in court regarding the disaster off the coast of Kyrenia. The captain and the crew maintained in their statements that the accident began when the front section of the ship broke off due to waves, arguing that the meteorological conditions during departure were suitable and the ship possessed the necessary permits.
