Whilst the ruling party escalates the pressure and its quest for legitimacy with its 2028 plans, it has openly declared a scenario in which Erdoğan will emerge victorious from the elections once again. The massive backlash building up within society, however, is being held back by the ‘reasonable’ boundaries of politics. The main opposition’s stance, constrained by these reactions, the uncertainties within the Kurdish movement, and the situation of the trade unions and democratic mass movements are pushing the public into the background. The opposition bloc, unable to transform the anger on the streets into a tangible will, is creating room for the government to manoeuvre.
