İmamoğlu sentenced to two years and one month in prison and given a ‘political ban’ in a case in which he had previously been acquitted twice!

Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who has been held in detention for a year and a half, has been given a ‘political ban’ and sentenced to two years and one month in prison over his remarks about former Tuzla Mayor Şadi Yazıcı. İmamoğlu had been acquitted twice in the case. For the ‘political ban’ to be enforced, the ruling must become final after passing through the regional appeals court and the Court of Cassation.
