Police intervened against women and LGBTI+ people who had gathered in Çağlayan to protest against operations targeting LGBTI+ organisations and rights defenders. As a result of the intervention, numerous people – including BirGün reporter Sarya Toprak, who was covering the story, and ARD German TV reporter Sener Azak – were detained. It was reported that 106 protesters were taken into custody.
