Billions in gains on one side, millions of poor people on the other

Whilst the flow of billions of lira in the fund scandal is being debated, the public is struggling with unemployment, low wages and the high cost of living. According to TÜİK data, the unemployment rate in August stood at 7.8 per cent, whilst the actual number of unemployed reached 12.6 million. Meanwhile, according to TÜRK-İŞ, the cost of a family’s healthy and adequate diet amounted to 37,388 TL.
